Responsibilities
Ø Overall responsibility of DB2 Database Administration activities on Z/OS
Ø Setup, Define and execute Healthcheck procedures
Ø Maintenance of DB2 Database objects
Ø Use DB2 Utilities
Ø Setup, Manage Database backup and restoration of databases
Ø Troubleshoot production problems, issues and recommend short term, long term solution
Ø Installing and upgrading DB2 on Mainframe
Ø A thorough understanding of z/OS operation systems and its various components will be an added advantage
Ø Works with Security Administration to insure that proper security is in place for DB/2 data.
Ø Performance Tuning of DB2 Database Required Skills
Ø Define starting up and shutting down procedures
Ø Managing user/developer access to DB2
Ø Monitor and report performance of DB2 System
Ø Debug performance and rectify the same
Ø Backup and recovery of DB2 system
Ø Assist in formulating DR plans
Ø Assists all development work on DB/2.
Ø Reviews all data models for technical accuracy. This includes the enforcement of all modeling and naming standards.
Ø Administer the data server on which DB/2 resides: monitor disk space and the DB2 log, backups, protect the integrity of the data.
