Role and Responsibility
1. Supporting the Production, UAT, QA and Development ETL environments with responsibility for environment uptime and overall system performance.
2. Coordinating downtime with the application support team to perform upgrades and install hot fixes.
3. Ensuring developer/user compliance with environment strategy including devising monitoring methodologies and/or processes.
4. Outlining best practices for application usage, security controls, code migration, UNIX scripting, logging, and other development and deployment procedures.
5. Troubleshooting during system downtime to restore service, determine root cause and establish procedures to avoid recurrence.
6. Experience performing web server upgrades and hot fix installations.
7. Working with developers to advise on standards and tool usage. Work with Application development team to determine individual project requirements.
8. Creation and maintenance of technical documentation, deployment diagrams and check-lists.
9. Automating routine tasks where appropriate.
10. Deploy applications from development environment to UAT / Stage & Prod environments.
11. Participates in the testing process and works to improve the quality and efficiency of development projects.
12. Create and implement environment backup/recovery plans and responsible for a proper disaster recovery environment.
13. Actively involved in brainstorming discussions on design, development, and implementation of web applications
14. Strong communication skills
15. Self-starter with pro-active communication
16. Tracks and maintains metrics as needed
Demonstrated Experience
1. Jboss App Server administration - Mandatory
2. Tomcat Web Server administration
3. Strong Unix skills including Unix adminstration and scripting
4. Knowledge of Informatica Server administration, Autosys or Database would be an added advantage
5. Should be willing to learn new tools and technologies like Informatica Power Center, Power Exchange, Metadata Reporter or Autosys
