Walkins for Medical Transcriptionist & Proof Reader 

MT Roles and Responsibilities: 

Ø  Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, laboratory, and disease processes.

Ø  Strong ability of understanding diverse accents, dialects and varying dictation styles.

Ø  In depth knowledge of medical transcription procedures, guidelines and practices.

Ø  Proofreading, editing, and formatting skills.

Ø  Excellent auditory and keyboard skills.

Ø  Computer knowledge, including use of MS Word, Stedman's Plus and Stedman's Electronic Medical Dictionary.

Ø  Excellent communication skills.

Ø  Good typing speed.

Ø  To produce the files in its TAT (turn-around-time).

 

Proofreader Roles and Responsibilities: 

Ø  Edit the transcribed document.

Ø  Edit documents consistently and fairly according to transcription guidelines, standards of style, and formats of practice.

Ø  Utilize all available reference tools to ensure the accuracy of the transcribed document.

Ø  Provide timely and consistent quality feedback to inform and update the transcriptionists regarding quality issues and areas of concern to help eliminate repetition of errors.

Ø  Recognize, interpret and evaluate inconsistencies, discrepancies and inaccuracies in medical dictation and appropriately clarify and flag or report them as needed.

Ø  Adhere to policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the transcription department.

Ø  Proofreading documents transcribed by medical transcriptionists  according to transcription guidelines, standards of style, and formats of practice

Ø  Giving feedback to the transcribers.

Ø  Maintain quality and TAT (turn around time).
